Consumer Price Index Numbers For Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) January 2014 

According to a press release issued by the Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour & Employment the All-India CPI-IW for January, 2014 declined by 2 points and pegged at 237(two hundred and thirty Seven). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by 0.84 per cent between December and January compared with the rise of 0.91 per cent between the same two months a year ago. 

The largest downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing -2.78 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Groundnut Oil, Onion, Brinjal Cabbage, Carrot, Gourd, Palak, Peas, Potato, Tomato and other Vegetable items, Sugar etc. are responsible for the decrease in index. However, this was compensated to some extent by Housing Index and the prices of Rice, Wheat, Fish Fresh, Goat Meat, Poultry, Cooking Gas, Electricity Charges, Petrol etc. putting upward pressure on the index.

All India Consumers Price Index for Industrial Workers on Base 2001=100 for the Month of February, 2012
 
                         All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of February, 2012 increased by 1 point and stood at 199 (one hundred & ninety nine).
        
         During February, 2012, the index recorded maximum increase of 5 points in Puducherry centre, 4 points each in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Mariani Jorhat centres, 3 points in 4 centres, 2 points in 10 centres and 1 point in 30 centres. The index decreased by 5 points in Quilon centre, 3 points each in Tiruchirapally and Salem centres, 2 points in 2 centres, 1 point in 8 centres, while in the remaining 17 centres the index remained stationary.
        
                        The maximum increase of 5 points in Puducherry centre is mainly on account of increase in the prices of Rice, Goat Meat, Poultry (Chicken), Curd, Snack Saltish, Country Liquor, Refined Liquor, Shirting Cloth (Synthetic), Bus Fare, Auto-rickshaw Fare, Barber Charges, Flower/Flower Garlands etc. The increase of 4 points each in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Mariani Jorhat centres is mainly due to increase in the prices of Rice, Groundnut Oil, Mustard Oil, Goat Meat, Fish Fresh, Vegetable & Fruit items, Tea (Readymade), Electricity Charges, Flower/Flower Garlands, etc. The decrease of 5 points in Quilon centre is due to decrease in the prices of Coconut Oil, Fish Fresh, Onion, Vegetable & Fruit items, etc. The decrease of 3 points each in Tiruchirapally and Salem centres is due to decrease in the prices of Rice, Eggs (Hen), Onion, Garlic, Tamarind, Chillies Dry, Vegetable items, Flower/Flower Garlands, etc.
          The indices in respect of the six major centres are as follows :

                     The point to point rate of inflation based on CPI-IW(General) for the month of February, 2012 is 7.57% as compared to 5.32% in January, 2012. Inflation based on Food Index attained the level of 5.08% in February, 2012 as compared to 0.49% in January, 2012.

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of October, 2011 increased by 1 point and stood at 198 (one hundred & ninety eight) .

ALL INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERSON BASE 2001=100 FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, 2011

1.    All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of May, 2011 increased by 1 point and stood at 187 (one hundred & eighty seven) .

2.    During May, 2011, the index recorded increase of 8 points in Ludhiana centre, 6 points in Nasik centre, 5 points each in Giridih, Mundakkayam and Sholapur centres, 4 points in 3 centres, 3 points in 4 centres, 2 points in 14 centres and 1 point in 18 centres. The index decreased by 4 points in Rangapara Tezpur centre, 3 points in Ghaziabad centre, 2 points in Guwahati centre, 1 point in 10 centres, while in the remaining 21 centres the index remained stationary.

3.    The maximum increase of 8 points  in  Ludhiana centre is mainly on account of increase in the prices of Arhar Dal, Masur Dal, Mustard Oil, Vanaspati Ghee, Milk, Chillies Dry, Electricity Charges, Toilet Soap, Washing Soap, etc. The increase of 6 points in Nasik centre is due to increase in the prices of Wheat, Bajra, Chillies Dry, Vegetable & Fruit items, Petrol, etc. The increase of 5 points in Giridih, Mundakkayam and Sholapur centres is due to increase in the prices of  Rice, Jowar, Vegetable & Fruit items, Tea (Readymade), Firewood, Soft Coke, Hair Oil, Washing Soap, etc. The decrease of 4 points in Rangapara Tezpur centre is the outcome of decrease in the prices of Wheat Atta, Fish Fresh, Turmeric Powder, Garlic, Vegetable & Fruit items, Pan Leaf, etc. The decrease of 3 points in Ghaziabad centre is due to decrease in the prices of Wheat Atta, Onion, Vegetable & Fruit items, etc. The decrease of 2 points in Guwahati centre is due to decrease in the prices of Wheat Atta, Vegetable & Fruit items, Pan Leaf, etc.

4.    The indices in respect of the six major centres are as follows :

5.    The All-India (General) point to point rate of inflation for the month of May, 2011 is 8.72% as compared to 9.41% in April, 2011. Inflation based on Food Index is 7.61% in May, 2011 as compared to 8.24% in April, 2011.

6.    The CPI-IW for June, 2011 will be released on the last working day of the next month, i.e. 29th July, 2011.

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of  October, 2010 increased by 2 points and stood at 181 (one hundred and eightyone).        During October, 2010, the index recorded an increase of 11 points in Kodarma centre, 7 points in Giridihcentre, 6 points in Mercara centre, 5 points each in Bhilwara and Ghaziabad centres, 4 points each in 4centres, 3 points in 4 centres, 2 points in 12 centres  and 1 point in 32 centres. The index decreased by 2 points in Ludhiana centre, 1 point in 3 centres, while in the remaining 17 centres the index remained stationary. The maximum increase of 11 points in Kodarma centre is mainly on account of increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat, Fish Fresh, Milk, Onion, Garlic, Vegetable & Fruit items, etc. The increase of 7 points inGiridih centre is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat Atta, Milk, Onion, Vegetable items, etc. The increase of 6 points in Mercara centre is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Goat Meat, Onion, Garlic, Vegetable items, Firewood, etc. The increase of 5 points in Bhilwara centre is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Goat Meat, Milk, Onion, Tea (Readymade),  Firewood, Auto Rickshaw Charges, etc. and in case of Ghaziabad centre it is  due to increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat Atta, Vegetable items, Tailoring Charges, etc. However, the decrease of 2 points in Ludhiana centre is due to decrease in the prices of Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Masur Dal, Moong Dal, Vegetable & Fruit items etc. The indices in respect of the six major centres are as follows: 1. Ahmedabad 178 4. Delhi 168 2. Bangalore 184 5.
